Like a waterfall display directly underneath and keyed by frequency to the
panadapter display. That would be cool! ...and still 2d for the display.
Maybe that wouldn't be too difficult since both displays already exist.

software? I use other rigs, but always come back to the Panadapter/Spectrum
Display in PowerSDR. It is my visual connection into the previously only
audible radio spectrum and the PowerSDR panadapter is great. Is that too
dramatic? Just my opinion...

It would seem that a separate cheap built-in receiver like a broadcast band
rcvr just for the noise blanker input could work and not affect the current
Flex receiver.
I take it from the lack of response to my post that this must not be a
problem for many people, though.

As for overdrive protection, the SDR has great potential here by sampling
audio level BEFORE rf generation instead of detecting it after the fact.
This could eliminate the overshoot problem entirely.
I've entered a feature request for a Peak Audio Limiter on the wish list. :)
