The transmit IMD will be better if you can get close to 13.8 volts, (or even 15.0 volts) to the PA, compared to 12.6 volts. 13.8 +/- 10% is 15.18 volts ( 12.42 volts). Mobile radios will certainly see higher than 13.8 volts, so it isn't like it will blow up at 15 volts. 7, Rob, NC0B

I would like to see some concrete data on that. If you have a 100 dB radio, how could a preselector give a night and day improvement? That seems on the surface to be illogical. I will have an FTdx-5000D here within 10 days, but I don't think the ham who is loaning it to be purchased the uTune.

I got rid of four 100 foot CAT 5e cables and switched to Ethernet over fibre to reduce my birdy problem. I have a Netgear FVS-338 ourter, a 6-port fibre switch and six fibre channel NICs, plus one fibre to copper media converter. All this runs a 1 GB, as this is used stuff that was affordable.
