Did you try swapping your Firewire cable? Also, try plugging the cable in
to the computer without the Flex and see what happens.
Barring that, try the Flex and cable on another computer if you can.

I thought I was pretty good at this... I had PowerSDR, N1MM, and a plethora
of other CAT/VAC based programs working harmoniously together. Last
contest I used N1MM to key CW and it worked liked a charm. I don't
remember changing anything on the system, but obviously I must have tweaked

One possible explanation is that your house was, at one time, owned by a
radio amateur who went SK. Imagine a guy from the 1930s who only operated a

I also use the ARB-704 with between my Flex 3000 and AL-811. It has been in

little relay does the trick very well and it's relatively inexpensive.
I use the panascope setting most of the time. When keying CW, I can see
the characters. This gives me a pretty good idea of what I am keying and a
visual indication of what the weight is. For me, it's as useful as using an
oscilloscope.

Everyone is thinking that it may be RFI, and that's still a possibility.
However, is there a chance that the linear is drawing too much current on
the household AC when you tune over 500 watts? Some of the smoke alarms
