I would suggest going to Tiger Direct or Amazon and searching for a
reconditionedHP with Firewire port. They are a dime a dozen with Win 7 on
them. I have bought(3) reconditioned laptops with fire wire port. They all
work very well for me. Good success Matthew-KJ4TN
Want an inexpensive laptop to run our 3000. Go to neweqg or click on clink
below. Ipurchased one and it works well. Very cheap price.

To opt out of the Reflector:
from: Matthew-KJ4TN I am trying to access my Flex-3000 remotely. I am using
TeamViewer to access myrig, and am trying to use Skype for XMIT and Audio.
What would be the best way toconnect Skype up to the Flex radio to be able to
listen and XMIT through my remotelaptop? Thanks for any tips
Dudley,
I am running 2.6.4.
That is just my experience. May not hold true for others.
Thanks
Matthew-KJ4TN.
P.S. I run remote hams.com also.
I was trying to put up an antenna that the internal tuner would tune on all
bands.
My 262 ft horizontal loop should be a good all band
Dave,
Thanks for the article.
Is anyone using a closed loop that will tune on the Flex from 80-10 meters? The
length of
my antenna and ladder line length may not be cut properly.
I am using a closed loop of 262ft fed with ladder line into a 4:1 balun and
into a short
piece of RG213
The tuner in my Flex-3000 will only tune a 3:1 SWR. I use a 262 foot
horizontal loop
up about 25ft all all four corners. It is fed with ladder line into a 4:1
balun outside my
ham shack into 10' of RG-213. My MFJ has no problems on all bands.
As to my loop, it only will tune a 3:1 mismatch
Is it a phillips head are straight screw?
Thanks for your good humor.

Flex-3000 (ssb).
Is it normal to have a S3 noise level when the antenna is disconnected from the
radio?
Thanks for any input on this subject. I always thought that the S meter should
drop to 0.

Craig,
I have had both the Flex 1500 and the Flex 3000 side by side with the KX3. And
the
KX-3 is no better a radio then the Flex's.
It all depends on what you want to do with your next radio. If you want to
basically
use it as QRP and portable then go with the KX-3.
If you are married
Dave,
I have some comments on the Pixel. It is an excellent receive antenna under
certain
band conditions.
Pros:
First, it performs excellent on the AM commercial radio band. It cuts out all
buzzing
sounds when listen to 540-1700
Second. If you have an interfering station it will notch
Tim,
You need to have a real special on Flex 1500 at $649.00 and the Flex
3000 at $1699.00.
What say you

Craig,?
It all depends what you want to do with the rigs. Yes I have
recently been comparing both rigs side by side. As far as in
the real world comparisons, pulling in weak stations in a
crowded band situation, both are equal. Do you want to use a
computer, or do you want knobs and buttons?
Question: Flex-1500- Trying to hook up to amps in series.
A solid state qrp amp--5 in and 100 watts out into a A811H--
100 in and 600 watts out.
I am using RF sensing from the 1500 into the qrp amp and then
going into the Al-811H. The 811H is keyed with relay cable
from the 1500.
