The writing was on the wall with the release of the 6000 series. You can expect a replacement for the 5000, 3000, and 1500 in the exact same price classes that will run the new style software. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen by next Hamvention. It is just good business sense. It is

The waterfall has become critical to my operating efficiency. It helps me avoid frequencies that are occupied, but no one is currently transmitting on. It gives me a better idea of how wide the transmitted signal is. I'm sure there are a number of other things that I detect subconsciously
