The main flightgear servers are hosted at the Univesity of Minnesota. I
have been informed that the FlightGear mail server is the 3rd or 4th
busiest in the entire university of something like 32,000 undergraduate
students. As a result I am thinking seriously of moving the FlightGear
mailing lists back to sourceforge. (And I'll point out that my original
reason for moving the lists off source forge and hosting them myself has
been addressed for quite some time now.)
I think I can move everyone's subscriptions over semi-automatically so
there shouldn't be a need for everyone to resubscribe.
The purpose of this message is not to generate discussion to see what
people think about the idea of moving. I will very likely move this
lists at some point when I have time to do it.
Instead, this is intended as an early warning shot across the bow so
everyone has a little time to mentally prepare for a change. Generally
speaking, SourceForge runs the same mailing list software as the
flightgear mail server so the impact on subscribers should be minimal
(other than learning to post to a different email address.)
Regards,
Curt.
