Is the scenery server down? Which one do you mean ? My one is up, for all three services. I meant the graphical scenery downloader at flightgear.org. Both the http and ftp download methods had timed out on me several times. I got what I needed, though. Jon

Jon sent me some ideas by private mail, and they look workable -- it really comes down to a judgement call about how frequently the messages will be used. If they're relatively infrequent (say, less than a few every second, as seems the case), then we should optimize for ease of coding
