FLUXLIST: watching television - C'est-la-vie, night! wino...

2004-08-24 Thread Alan Bowman
german tv?
Oh THOSE channels! tut tut michael and you a vegan as well!

Nope german tv is not the norm here although we do get some dubbed german
police shows.

The coverage of the olympics has been something else too (like 4 years
ago) - they only seem to be interested in those events in which an italian
is competing - so you may find that on occasion the coverage suddenly
switches from the track and field to the cross-country rollerskating small
bore pistol event.

although saying that the italians are doing very well in the medals tables -
not quite well enough to justify the screaming hysteria of the commentators,
but..

better than the UK anyway!

---We watched some italian tv in the hotel in venice
recently and bemused by the many channels in german??!
Is this common or just a whim of the hotel? Most of
the offerings seemed pretty dire and made english tv
 seem very interlectual by comparison.

 michael. blogging away again.

generally just the news, but sometimes a badly

on mtv (but hey it's in english and it's better than
  fuming at very bad
  dubbing)
in the winter i watch 'striscia la notizie'

   EZIO GREGGIO and ENZO
  IACCHETTI to Laurenti and Sasa'

2004-08-24 Thread michael leigh
--Forced to watch quite a lot of the Olympics at my
sisters as my brother in law has a rather complicated
tv system using a set top box and several handsets
which control it and only he knows the mysteries of
its workings! so the bbc olympic channel? was on
almost all the time excepts when we were watching his
dodgy dvd's- pirated copies of recnt flim s like
Who's Got My Balls? with Nifty Turner, Garfield the
Amazing Dull cat with Wifty Trumbills, Perogative
Explosive Whelk with Tufty Horncrout and Speadman Nine
with Gritty Hunkbole and Nifty Turner again. that
Nifty turner gets in all the films just lately. Most
seemed to be filmed from the first row of the stalls
so the ends were missing or fuzzy and shadows of
patrons kept creeping over the screen as they went for
a pee or an icecream etc.

We seem to be doing just as well as itlay in the medal
stakes. having just won another bronze for pie
lifting.
