For Debian, I maintain a small collection of Unicode fonts by the name
of the Thryomanes fonts. (Package ttf-thryomanes.) Unfortunately, they
don't seem to display correctly in XFT2 programs, like KDE. None of the

GNUstep has a tool called 'font_cacher', which needs to run once in a
while, and scans all fonts installed in the system, preparing a cache of
their names/basic info which is needed by GNUstep to run.
