can the embedded fossil wiki pages be edited via the webinterface
wiki-editor as well - or does embedded documentation force everyone to
open a text editor and check in changes from his local repository?

Yes, embedded docs must be checked in - they are normal files. This has
several advantages over the wiki, such as being able to detect change
conflicts and perform diffs.

I'm having trouble accessing a remote repository. Any help appreciated.

I can clone the repository, but cannot push.
Then, if I change the capabilities of remote Fossil user 'nobody'
to nothing, I cannot even pull.
