Great! As we've discussed privately, Conservancy could also be a home 
for the

copyrights now that we have infrastructure in place to accept such
assignments. I'm also happy to help GNOME do the same, though it's more
work to get set up.

You might consider the Free Software Foundation (FSF), Software in 
the Public

Interest (SPI), or the Software Freedom Conservancy (SFC).

It occurs to me that while GNOME Foundation does not currently own any
copyright, there is no reason why it can't accept a donation such as this.

I think an existing free software organization feels like the best home 
for these copyrights.  The organizations that others have mentioned 
here are great leads - I will be in touch with some of them soon.  If 
none of those pan out, I may repost asking if any individual people 
would be interested.  thanks -

Obviously the FSF and maybe the https://sfconservancy.org/ might be up
to the task.
