Hi,

I have a I/A system consisting of Micro I/A's, AW70's and WP70's.

I think that there is another option: freeware VNC. It works on UNIX and in WIndows (also in PocketPC's).

Hi Bruce,
Hummingbird eXceed is but one of the possible solutions. We (internal to Dow
Corning) are required to use SCO XVision, and we get pretty good at making
it work also, without the handholding that Foxboro provides with eXceed.
There are other commercial products for remotely displaying X

Hi Duc,
I did the write up on the various methods of e-mailing. I would be willing
to write it up more formally for the FAQ. I'll have it to you by Friday.
As far as contact information goes:
This is kind of silly. It is ridiculously easy to make an alternate e-mail
address and subscribe
An excellent pure Foxboro solution is to upgrade a WP70 to Server70 WP
version. The Server 70 is a Windows NT Server (Terminal Server Edition) and
allows up to twenty remote clients using office grade PC connected via
ethernnet to display FoxView displays vis either a web browser or terminal

We don't have 70's but what about using PCAnywhere? I use it to remote
administer a couple of NT servers on our shipping automation system and I've
been very pleased with the results.

I do think that it is polite and wise to have all of your contact

confusing.
Given how easy it is within Outlook and Notes to apply a signature, I think

It is a good product that allows display, storage, search and frequency

We can pull X-windows from any of our I/A workstations, so we haven't tried

We use Visual Alert from 2TSI. It is much cheaper than logmate

Hummingbird is just fine, but you need a UNIX system for that to work.
Windows is not capable of remote displaying proces graphics. You can opt
for packages like PCAnywhere or (what we at Foxboro user) NetOp. These
packages take over the screen and display this to another Windows
machine.
We tested PC Anywhere and found significant stability issues after even a
few hours of use. However, that was a couple of years ago.
The TAC folks use NetOp and found it to me much better.

PC Anywhere 8.0 can be configured so that the host requires a password
before allowing a session. I'm not how secure that connection is, but it
might provide the protection (at least from internal users) that you need.

Whenever connecting a process control system to a company network, you
should follow the guidelines of your IT folks. If they are clueless when
it comes to process control systems (which many of them are), then you
should talk to the control system vendor to get their recommendations as
the best
Actually, I think it is an excellent idea. Not to say that David Johnson may agree.
Now, if you would all just add your socual security number and perhaps a credit card
number or two, I could get on with it and retire in style...
