In /usr/ports/Mk/bsd.gecko.mk can Pulseaudio be disabled for Firefox and
Thunderbird, since these programs already use OSS and Sndio? This way, the
default packages won't install with Pulseaudio.

gecko ports: https://reviews.freebsd.org/D14154
It would be great if we could commit it, but no gecko committer gave
his approval yet. Could anybody take a look at it please?

Yes, this problem exists in old Firefox too. My desktop was not updated
for more than 6 month, so I have

performance in some cases. But
it does provide better performance in other cases, so it depends. And of
course, not crashing is a benefit. :)

I don't have much time to hack on gecko@ nowadays. It's caused by burnout
From trying to keep things I don't use working, the fast pace of upstream
development, my aged hardware and poor teamplay (mea culpa). Hopefully, this
answers the question of why many gecko@ bugs remain untriaged. If other
are on the CC list for the bug.

This is the solution, add it to Makefile.options or directly where the
options are defined:
PULSEAUDIO_LIB_DEPENDS= libpulse.so:${PORTSDIR}/audio/pulseaudio

I think I found a workaround for linkage problems in gecko ports (firefox,
libxul, ...) when gcc 4.4 is used for build. However, I don't understand exact
