Ken Yap has patched the Lua script language to compile
using BC31 on  DOS.

You can use DJGPP, too. I've succesfully compiled Lua 5.1.1
without any modification. Just unpack it somewhere, cd to
the src dir, then type make generic. It will build the
Lua lib, the Lua interpreter executable, and the Lua
bytecode compiler.

[Freedos-user] Updating CauseWay

2006-06-21 Thread Escorter
Hello! It's me again.

I changed my compiler back to Open Watcom 1.1, because 1.2
can't compile the Duke Nukem 3D source code. :)

But now, I have a problem: it comes with an old version of
CauseWay, and I don't know how can I update to the latest
CW. Can somebody help me?

I downloaded cw349.zip from Mr. Devore's site. I think it is
the latest version.

It's not a bug in OW. When Charlie Wiederhold prepared the
source code for the release, the latest OW compiler was 1.0.
So he ported the original Watcom 11-optimized code to this
compiler. Then the OW team made big changes in 1.2, so the
code can't be compiled with 1.2 without some modifications.
But I don't have time to make these modifications.

I can't remember the error messages correctly, but there are
a lots of Type of parameter 1 does not agree with previous
definition errors.

I don't want to change the compiler, I only want to update
CauseWay.

With the DOS4GW based programs, you need to include

[Freedos-user] CauseWay DOS extender

2006-06-09 Thread Escorter
Hi!

I found a very neat open sourced DOS extender included with
Open Watcom 1.2, called CauseWay. I recompiled Shadow
Warrior source code, but instead of DOS4GW, I linked the
executable with CauseWay, and I very surprised, because the
game runs as stable as the original exe, but the exe is much
smaller...

...But is it safe to link DOS4GW programs with CauseWay? I
didn't modified any code in the SW sources. Is CW fully
DOS4GW compatible?

I know DOS32A is fully DOS4GW compatible, but if I link SW
with DOS32A, the game locks up completely at the 3D Realms
title screen.

Some corrections:

-Your ship is NOT remote controlled. You 're the pilot, you

-Your enemies are mining robots. Not robot spaceships.

Sorry for the off-topic, but Descent is my all time
favourite game, and I felt I must correct your mistakes

But unfortunately, the original Descent executable crashes
under FreeDOS for mee, too. But the DOS version of D1X (it's
an enhanced version of Descent - it compiles with DJGPP
under DOS) runs fine for me.
