I am aware that the FreeSurfer manual has typical MRI parameters for various MRI scanners. Are these the best to use? In other words, given the techniques employed by FreeSurfer, are there any "ideal" MRI scanner parameters (or scanning sequences) that are known to give the best possible results for BEM surface extraction and cortical surface reconstruction?
