Hi, I've seen the same thing. My workaround has been to move the csurf window to the bottom of the screen - forcing the tkmedit window to the top when it starts - which for some reason makes the tool window stay up. It could be that when the tool window is to be drawn "outside" of the screen (or too close to the edges) it exits. You could also try going into the "freesurfer_alpha/bin/<os>" directory and copy one of the other versions of tkmedit to "tkmedit". Try both the dynamic and static versions.
