I can't really get a normal result when I set up sort by date on a
folder. it's specialy annoying in the image menu. I want to have folders
classified by date ( from newer to older), but configuring sorting by
date or not on the container does'nt change a thing.
I'm tired of typing the date

For dvd's with menu, you need xine. If you still want to use mplayer for all
the other things,

I´m using only xine. Didnt need mplayer until now.. btw, I´m using xmms
to play mp3s not mplayer.

Test it yourself. Xine can play most things, but perhaps there are some
formats that only mplayer can handle. Maybe you don't use any of them.

In this case, I'd suggest you to configure xine only for dvd's and mplayer for
the rest
