Anyone knows how to get the lavc supported codecs ?
I know how to get mencoder supported codecs : mencoder -ovc help but
I'd like to have the detail for lavc since it contains its own
codecs... and that depends on compile options.
Is there some command line that could show that list of

May be it is sensible to have it set when childapp_debug is set and not
otherwise.
Maybe you need -v. For kaa.popcorn I need the -v to get some stream

Hi,
With 1.7.1, is there an option to force XvMC on for all videos which
offer it on the menu, and a way of forcing deinterlacing off
similarly?
It's a pain going in to the menu for every recording from my DVB-T
card to flick the options.
Thanks in advance,
Andrew

I just notice that after playing a video I got a black screen
instead of returning to the freevo menu. Oddly enough if I forward
for the near end of the file and wait, the video finish and freevo
return to the menu. If I just play the video (and never hit the
fast forward), when it

Must admit I hadn't realized that mplayer increased the verbosity with
more 'v's as they have another option for setting output verbosity levels.
There is an mplayer option -identify that provides stream information, but
I've never tried it and am not sure if mplayer just shows

I was excited to see your patch on the devel list today, but it awfully

Doh!
I just do a quick test, and this command:
mplayer -identify -frames 0 -vo null -ao null filename.avi
is doing the trick !
Hope it helps

BTW guys I am still actively using VDR w/ Freevo 2, although I haven't
SVN updated that machine since Dischi changed some menu properties
(which broke the vdrmain plugin). I am using xinelibout to remotely
access the VDR server and it works awesome.
I am about to get a new job so maybe I can
Not sure if the following is the same, but when I'm watching a movie with
xine and press 'q' to quit xine, I have to press 'esc' to return to Freevo.

Normal with xine as freevo does not see the keyboard events, xine must
be taking them over.

I recently upgraded my dedicated freevo box to freevo 1.7.1, from 1.7_rc1.
I also completely removed my freevo cache, tmp, and .freevo dirs, in order
to try and nail a problem I had with the recordserver. (I eventually
solved it by doing an 'emerge -e world' on my gentoo box, *sigh*)

Hi,
I read in the changelog that I can now use an encoding server to recode my
recorded TV shows into a smaller format. My computer isn't really fast
enough to transcode to xvid on the fly... But, I can't figure out how to
do it. Am I supposed to be able to select a 'recode' option on my recorded

The imdb helper in 1.7.1 appears to have a bug that stops it from working
properly...
It seems two parameters were added to setImdbId in src/util/fxdimdb.py,
season and episode. This breaks the imdb helper (when run from the
commandline, at least), which still tries to call the function with one
I tried using the webradio.fxd supplied with freevo, to add web radio
support to my installation. However, most of the stations don't appear to
work. They usually just appear for a second when I select them, and then
I'm returned to the menu. No errors in freevo 'main' log. I did get *one*

Rolling back kaa didn´t help, freevo used to work for me so its quite annoying

Nice, how did you implement it? and it sound reasonable as there is an
option to quit after playback that is described in the man page.

In local_conf I added the option --auto-play=fq
Not sure if it actually worked, my freevo is not working atm
XINE_COMMAND = '%s --auto-play=fq --hide-gui -pq -g -B --geometry %sx%s+0+0
--no-splash' % \
(CONF.xine, CONF.width, CONF.height)
XINE_ARGS_DEF = '--auto-play=fq
there is some scripts called icecast_grabber.pl and shoutcast_grabber.pl on
sourceforge somewhere, but I havnt go them working as yet
