Having survived the great ice storm of a few years ago, I realized it
doesn't take billions of dollars to mitigate such a disaster. I have a gas
furnace, and even if I had an oil furnace what stop the furnace from working
was not lack of fuel. It was the lack of a minimal amount of electricity to
the new DC motors on furnaces require even less power. Perhaps could even be

You trust your local conservative news
station?
They dont carry guns. If local people
were concerned about those gun-toting women it must be because they too listen

You should watch a fair and balanced

Having watched much of the recent discussions about the US President,
policies, etc., and participated in some of these discussions, I am now
thinking about the next election. This gives rise to a question - what
are the qualities that you think the next president should possess? I,

Why not select the best attributes from previous Presidents over the past
century.
Perhaps one outstanding attribute from Carter, FDR, Bush I, Reagan, etc.
Let's forget the negative. Choose one positive aspect of each.
A good hair-do.

I'd be particularly interested in non-US perspectives.
Is this supposed to become sort of a re-do of the ICANN elections ?
Big show of global democracy and red tape orgy (everyone could be
nominated and vote), just to discover in the end that the predators

No, it is not a given. I'm surprised you are paying attention to the

Malcolm,
Far from amicable. The US has, since Canada declined participation in the Iraq
invasion, painted us with a very nasty colour. We weren't even acknowledged by
Bush for our immediate assistance following 9/11. And the drug issue is a laugh
because the US is by far the largest of crops
Natalia,
Please know that at least this American has a deep respect for Canada. Your
help on getting US citizens out of Iran, your general quiet thoughtfulness,
your participation in peace-keeping activities, the contributions of
individual Canadians to US life (e.g. Jennings) -- these are all
