You describe my *hope*.  If every CEO and major shareholder suddenly
starts deciding that anything less than excellence in the businesses
they own is incompatible with their self-image, there is hope.

In that world, your older sales person would get a bonus for helping
you, and he would be written up in the company newsletter -- but, no,
maybe he wouldn't, since there would be too many of him to put
all their stories in the newsletter.  But, again, no: He would
already have been promoted to something like "living important
corporate asset".

"Sayonara", folks -- as the sun may today be setting on
the honorable bastion of quality 6700 nautical miles west of New York
as the Boeing 747SP flies (or at least it did 15 years ago, when I went
there)....
