I've committed a patch to CVS to deal with the problems with XChangeProperty and XGetWindowProperty, but currently I have no way to test it. Can you please try the latest CVS-snapshot and tell me if that helps? I'm specifically interested in the gnome properties _WIN_WORKSPACE _WIN_LAYER _WIN_STATE _WIN_HINTS (if one of them works, they all do.
