If I get enough feedback here I would be interested in putting together a
site for cataloging all your hardware serial numbers. I know I can get a

Hello List,
I am new to the mac, I just recently bought me a little powerbook, now
for getting started I need your help, it would be nice if somebody
could tell me the essential downloads I need to make, probably first
the OS update, then download safari, but I don't know further. Feel

Jean-Marc,
Welcome to the list. We need to know a few things:
1) Model powerbook
2) Amount of RAM
3) Hard Drive Size
4) Currently installed version of MacOS
After we get at least a couple of those we can start to give you your

Jean-Marc,
I wanted to add something. I noticed after I sent my email that your clock
is off. Currently it is 10:24 GMT on July 19, 2003 and your computer looks
as though it has been on for 1 hour 13 minutes (well, I guess that's 29
minutes now). Also looks like you might be in the Midwest

Well, it looks like you got the time fixed, that's good.
If you have the broadband connection I would definitely update to 10.2.6.
Also I would look into more RAM. PC-2700 RAM I believe is what your unit
requires and another 256MB in the states runs about 50USD.
Beyond going to 512 MB, what do

First off, I don't think 640 exactly is achievable. 256, 512, 768 and 1024 I
believe are the only options (cobinations of 512 or 256).
As for your list of applications, 256 is good for every except maybe

Unfortunately I haven't fixed the clock!
Could you please? Your emails are getting lost out of sequence. It's a

512 + 128 = 640.
