In my previous query on running OS X on the old clamshell iBooks, I have
read 2
replies that say they have upped the RAM on their old iBooks to 512MB,
when the
max I have read from Apple
I believe it has more to do with testing. Apple has only tested the clamshell
as working with a 256MB cards. They don't continue to test more and larger
capacity ram unless they are continuing to produce that machine
