I'm booting an HP laptop from g4u 1.17 CD. It only sees the wireless NIC,
wpi0, and no network. I either need to configure the wireless to connect to
our network or get to g4u to recognize the wired NIC.
Output from dmesg is pci2: i/o space, memory space enabled, rd/line, wr/inv OK

I don't know where I got that old version # from. I actually have V2.3.
