Hi Dave,
I don't know if this will help or not, but my games with recorded speech such
as BopIt, Mach 1 and Golf version 5 use the MCI drivers and they all run on my
Windows XP machines. I don't know perhaps they install the MCI drivers. You
could try down loading and installing one of them
Hi all,
Ok, here is an updated draft of the info on each starship. Y^ou guys
asked for a classification of average, below average, above average, etc
as well as a list of specialties which I have now included. Here is the
current draft as it stands now.

Hi,
In some ways I like the first draft better, though I think it useful to
include the specialties. It would be good to be able to know what types of
weapon are there still, though some people won't know the difference between
the two types of phaser unless it is explained shomewhere, which

I like the list a lot, it really gives a good breakdown of strengths and

Also, in the game, can a person pick the ship most
Hi tom,
I know that sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn't that hard. With a
very creative group of people in the community I think your problem will be
having to turn away some ideas because you have too many to choose from. The
missions don't have to be incredibly complicated either,

Hi David,
Actually, there are three different types of phasers in the Trek game.
Older classes such as the Excelsior-Class Explorer have a type 8 phaser
which only does about half the damage of the type 10. The newer classes
like the Sovereign-Class and Intrepid-Class carry the type 10 which
Hi Thomas,
I like the new format but have a few questions.
For those who do like the exact numbers, would you be putting them in the

Hi Allan,
To answer your question about choosing ships. I am working on an idea of
a sort of interactive story. You just happen to be the captain of
starship x. So in that sense once you pick that starship she is yours

Hi Allan,
Well, one way of looking at it if you failed to destroy the secret base
the logical explanation would be you got the crap kicked out of you and
you are space dust. Not only would it effect the future of the war you
won't be in it in the next mission. Smile.

Silent Steel was a submarine game that was out in the mid 1990's. As it

The only way I know you can get it now is to get it from a place that
does computer resells of old software like Ebay.

Hi Tom,
Hoping not to give away any tricks, I think one mission should be impossible
to win.
That would be a tip of the hat to the old Kirk days.
I also would like a mission where the enemy has infiltrated your ship. How
would you defend yourself if your cargo bay was in enemy hands?

Hi Allan,
Hmmm... interesting idea. So some missions might have time limits on
them. Kind of like GTC sector 3 if you don't hit the train fast enough
game over. In this case if you don't find ship x, base x, in a specified
amount of time you might be able to go on to the next mission, but you

Hi Phil,
Well, since this game depends on the completion of the previous mission
putting in an impossible mission would make the game impossible to win.
That wouldn't be much fun.

Hi,
At the moment I have not decided to add impulse to your list of drive

However, if I do add impulse it will be much slower than warp naturally.
As I recall full impulse is like 0.98 or something like that. nearly
warp 1, but not.

I hardly used impulse.
Saying that when you dropped warp you were at an impulse speed so I
suppose you could have impulse, especially when undocking and docking
from bases.
And in sertain systems you are regulated to not be able to use warp.
