It's part of the gexec module, so make sure that you have that package
installed. If you build from scratch, I think that it should be a
simple ./configure make make install trio of commands.
The docs you found on the PCP website are better than what Ganglia
ships (that I've found, at least).
You mentioned the udp_send_channel configuration but did you set up the
udp_recv_channel? Gmond has to be able to listen to itself as well as
everybody else in order to collect the metrics that will be reported to gmetad.

has a new metric, new_metric.
* It is *not* necessary for A to also have new_metric, for it to be
able to see B's new_metric and collect it for the cluster.
