I was finally allowed to try this out. However, no matter what I couldn't get
gmetad to start. This is what I ran (from my home directory):
dd if=/dev/zero of=rrds.img bs=1024 count=1048576
mkfs -t ext3 rrds.img
mount -t ext3 -o loop rrds.img /var/lib/ganglia/rrds
