I've looked at the link that you provided and the setup is very similar. The
guide suggested that there was nearly no configuration for the multicast
gather, which is why I didn't bother changing much of the initial configuration
after `gmond -t $PREFIX/etc/gmond.conf`. Here
I've had a similar problem in the past. It was fixed by setting, in
gmond.conf:
globals {
...
send_metadata_interval = 60 /* secs */
}
because I was not using multicast.

Dave, thanks. My message is still being held for being too large for the
mailing list. However, I had tried this parameter for a long shot. It didn't
work and I'm also using multicast, so I didn't think it would help as the
inline documentation described.
