When we look at a glass half filled with water, some of us may see it as a glass half full of water, while others may see it as a glass half empty of water.  Both observations are correct, but it is up to each one of us to decide which of the two observations brings about a positive approach of looking at it. 
 
In the same way, when dealing with people, it is all too easy to label people and their behavioural patterns in a negative manner, and perhaps that is so because we are conditioned by either society's or our own interpretation of what a typical behaviour pattern should be regarded as. It is quite interesting to observe how labels could be shifted......
 

Label Shifting

The following list was published in Handbook of Cognitive Therapy Techniques, by Rian McMullin.
