I attempted to keep my consent withdrawn by not checking the "I agree to
receive stuff I don't want" check-box, but the interface refused to let me
re-confirm my mailing list subscription. So I closed the browser window
without proceeding.

It's time to move the mailing list to another provider.

The entity that currently hosts this mailing list (Sourceforge, Slashdot, Dice
-- pick the name-of-the-day) now have an ongoing history of disrespect. Even
http://www.geeqie.org/ says on its homepage:

"""The project was previously hosted on SourceForge, but we
moved to gitosis when SF decided to bundle malware with
their downloads. The mailing list is the only
infrastructure we still use from SF."""

I suggest we consider https://savannah.nongnu.org/ for a new mailing list. It
aligns closely with our ethos, and meets requirements.

Dare I quote Linus' law: "given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow"... given
enough /non-renewed/ subscriptions to the project mailing list there won't be
any eyes left...

Indeed, that was my thought as well. I almost feel lucky that the
captcha thing failed :-P
