Wouldn't it be better to add such patches to a branch and merge it
later? At least with git (its how I manage geeqie) it is pretty easy to
do so. I have several branches locally by myself to manage ideas,
 translations and so on.

At least as of svn 1.4, this could sometimes get pretty hairy. I've heard
there
was a lot of progress made with svk, a lot of which ended up in svn 1.5, but I
haven't used 1.5 seriously enough to know.

Geeqie has several bashisms which seem unnecessary. I don't use all
these features so perhaps one or more of the scripts does actually need
bash. If it does, it should be found via configure and listed as an
explicit dependency. My experience has been that 95% of scripts that
say /bin/bash work fine with /bin/sh and I don't see any bash extensions
 in use here.

Hi Greg,

i committed your patch related to configure.in (as rev. 1805).

But for patches against plugins, i'm unsure.
What do you all think about those ?

I am a bit afraid of merging branches with svn. But maybe we could switch to
git completely. I will have to learn it anyway ;)
Does anybody know how to do the migration?

:-) I believe that.

That would be nice.

O, it is not that complicate. And you will love gitk. :-)

Does anybody know how to do the migration?

This is no problem. I did this for some repositories until now. (One was
where svn did broke all stuff up and no checkout with svn was possible
anymore.) I just didn't convert a sourceforge project from one to
another.

I did test with one of my other projects. It is pretty easy to move to
git with sourceforge.

The first Step is that you have to enable git. Then the repository can
be imported from one which has write permissions.

For the import there has to be made several decisions.
- - Should the username and the email generated/used just from the
original sourceforge username or should it be converted to the real
name and a chosen mail address? (I would prefere to use mapping.)

- - Should we drop keyword expansion? (Preferred)

- - Should we convert the author of supplied patches to the correct
submitter? (There is two fields, author and committer which can be
  different. I would prefer that.)

After the import is done the configuration should be changed by the
admin of the project with shell access to change the description and so.
Also if we want to have some hooks this can be done this way.

   Klaus
