followed the instructions at the gentoo Wiki (http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_ICC_and_Portage ), including adding ncurses to /etc/portage/package.gcc, so it should be trying to compile with GCC (and therefore this shouldn't be an ICC problem).
