For what it's worth I've been using gerbera for years, it'll pass-through supported videos/codecs or you can set it up to transcode. Highly recommend it. On my roku TV's I just use the roku media player, it'll see UPnP servers just fine.

There are quite a few things to tweak that can lead to much smoother transfers, so I'll make an unordered list to help. mount -o nocto,nolock,async,nconnect=4,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576 rsize and wsize are very important for max bandwidth, worth checking with mount after linked up nocto helps

For anyone following or just plain interested, I've solved the issue with diskless root over NFS not being able to resume correctly after suspending. nfsvers=4.0 on the boot line Using 4.2 has speed improvements but results in hardlocking on wakeup. Thank you to everyone that got involved,
