[gentoo-user] Issues trying to get emerge -uD world to work

Please excuse the messy cut and paste but I've been having problems with the mailing list from one of my email accounts and had to move back to this one). I'm still having the same error and cannot work out any way to fix it without removing gnome - which I do not want to do if I can avoid it.
