Thanks for you directions - you pointed me where I needed to see. Something near there mentioned checking the clock, which I did, it was set three years ago. I set the BIOS clock, to local time, then reset it to UTC time (doh!) I then ran # emerge ntp and it worked! Hopefully that was it! I
