It conflicts with "dev-perl/Net-DNS-SEC-0.220.0:0::gentoo".

(See full text you quoted)

Check for an existing bug and file one if there isn't any yet. Listing both

Thank you for your response, so i tried :

1-

'Protected' and 'omitted' packages will not be removed.

Re: [gentoo-user] Depgraph failure WAS audio gone!

2008-01-28 Thread Willie Wong
On Sun, Jan 27, 2008 at 12:59:29PM -0800, Penguin Lover maxim wexler squawked:
 Uh-oh,

localhost heathen # emerge -auvD world

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

 Calculating world dependencies \
!!! Multiple versions within a single package slot
 have been
!!! pulled into the dependency graph:

 ('installed', '/', 'net-print/foomatic-filters-3.0.2',
 'nomerge') pulled in by
   ('installed', '/', 'net-print/foomatic-3.0.2',
 'nomerge')

 ('ebuild', '/',
 'net-print/foomatic-filters-3.0.20060720', 'merge')
 pulled in by
   ('installed', '/',
 'net-print/foomatic-db-engine-3.0.2', 'nomerge')
   ('ebuild', '/',
 'net-print/foomatic-filters-ppds-20070501', 'merge')

Hum, I have never used foomatic, so I am not sure, but:

[10:44 AM]wwong ~ $ ls /usr/portage/net-print/foo* -d
/usr/portage/net-print/foo2zjs
/usr/portage/net-print/foomatic-db
/usr/portage/net-print/foomatic-db-engine
/usr/portage/net-print/foomatic-db-ppds
/usr/portage/net-print/foomatic-filters
/usr/portage/net-print/foomatic-filters-ppds
/usr/portage/net-print/foomatic-gui

I don't actually see a foomatic package. What you see is bug 132322 on
B.G.O., which should have been fixed in 2006-05-05. And
net-print/foomatic was removed in April of 2007
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.gentoo.weekly-news/208

So I think you can probably unmerge foomatic and try again.

wrong. C# is a dialect one can use to create .NET programs. .NET is a

wrong. C# is a dialect one can use to create .NET programs. .NET is a
bit similar to the Java concept. But there are numerous other languages
one can use to create .NET assemblies.

Mono is an attempt to create a .NET environment for the FOSS world.

OK, C# was derived from C++, Java, and Delphi. .NET is basically a byte

similar in concept to java's virtual machine. I was wrong in not
separating the C# language
compiler from the .NET environment. Mono consists of both. At one time
MS planned
a bunch of languages for the .NET environment that could inter-operate
at the byte code

[gentoo-user] Update of net-snmp package (GLSA 200505-18)

2005-05-24 Thread Jonas Pedersen

Hi all,

I am about to upgrade net-snmp on my server after the latest security
advisory. Did an emerge sync like I always do and that went fine.

The strange thing is that 'emerge -puD world' only shows below.
obelix root # emerge -puD world

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies ...done!
[ebuild U ] sys-apps/debianutils-2.13.1-r1 [1.16.7-r4]
obelix root #

I expected it to also show the new net-snmp package. Then tried to run
'emerge -pu net-snmp' and it comes out with the output below.

obelix root # emerge -pu net-snmp

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild U ] net-analyzer/net-snmp-5.2.1-r1 [5.2.1]
obelix root #

Can anyone explain why I am seeing this behavious?

I've had (and still have) the same problem. I solved it by removing
kdebluetooth and the current bluez files. Another possibility is to disable
bluetooth support in kde4 by setting USE flags to -bluetooth for the
responsible kde4 packages. (use -t with emerge to see which packages those

bluez and bluez-libs are mutally blocking.

emerge -avC bluez-libs
emerge -av bluez

The message about gcfs is simply the dependency tree so you can see what
causes bluez to be installed/retained, it's not the actual blocker.

IIRC gvfs can use bluez-4. Check the gvfs ebuild to make sure.

[gentoo-user] {OT} Shorewall config check

2007-02-09 Thread Grant

Hello,

I set up shorewall on my Gentoo firewall/router for the first time
yesterday. I had been using the iptables commands specified in the
Gentoo Home Router Guide before. I used this:

http://www.shorewall.net/two-interface.htm

and ran into some trouble as the two-interface example files installed
with the package didn't match the ones described in the above
document. I ended up with the following and I was hoping someone
could have a quick look and tell me if it's secure enough and not
overly redundant.

Wireless ath0 is on the local subnet. eth0 is attached to a DSL modem
which (unfortunately) also happens to be a router with IP address
192.168.1.1. I configured that modem/router to do static NAT and
forward all ports to the Gentoo firewall/router and I disabled
everything on it I could (DNS, DHCP, etc.). The Gentoo
firewall/router provides DNS via dnsmasq and all the machines on the
network configure IPs manually so there is no DHCP anywhere.

/etc/shorewall/zones:

fw firewall
net ipv4
loc ipv4

/etc/shorewall/interfaces:

# I removed norfc1918 from the net OPTIONS because eth0
# has IP 192.168.1.2 from the modem/router. Bad idea?
net eth0 detect tcpflags,routefilter,nosmurfs,logmartians
loc ath0 detect tcpflags,detectnets,nosmurfs

/etc/shorewall/policy:

loc net ACCEPT
loc $FW ACCEPT
loc all REJECT info
$FW net REJECT info
$FW loc REJECT info
$FW all REJECT info
net $FW DROP info
net loc DROP info
net all DROP info
all all REJECT info

/etc/shorewall/rules:

DNS/ACCEPT $FW net
Ping/REJECT net $FW
ACCEPT $FW loc icmp
ACCEPT $FW net icmp
# Bittorrent
DNAT net loc:192.168.0.3 tcp 6881:6999
DNAT net loc:192.168.0.3 udp 6881:6999

/etc/shorewall/masq:

eth0 ath0

/etc/shorewall/routestopped:

ath0 -

Should I be using an ipp2p PROTO designation with my Bittorrent rules?

Would you bother to run a firewall on the machines connected to the
Gentoo firewall/router?

Try adding "--autounmask-keep-masks y" to your emerge command line, to stop it
suggesting that you unmask packages.

All very interesting, but, I'm not particular fond of Novell (too many
historical issues) so I'll avoid this sort of licensing. Besides
.exe as a file name, just pisses me off.

The biggest problem is I'm looking for a tool, gui, or automated
approach to discover documents (html, xml, doc-book etc) that
go with the myriad of software pacakges. I do not need a
tool to parse my directories, I'm looking for a tool that saves
me time by producing a unified deliver mechanism for ellusive
documentation.

Like man pages for ascii text, but which covers all of the various types
and locations for docs. Collectively, a lot of time is wasted since
each individual has to search ebuilds, lib, share, wikis, web sites
and googling to find these documents, which sometimes exist and sometimes
do not exist, in a menagerie of forms.

thanks but, no thanks.

[gentoo-user] jffnms overlay installation

2005-11-29 Thread James
Hello,

Jffnms is a very cool network management package, albeit a little
complex to install and configure. Thanks to 'angusyoung' installation
is now a breeze. I thought I'd post what I did to get it to
install, in explicit form, in case anyone else wanted to check out this
excellent 'network management system'.

I've been reading and working on installing jffnms, an experimental new
package not yet in the portage tree. Here are the documents I have
been using as a guide for this installation:
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Installing_3rd_Party_
Ebuilds#ebuild:_A_Safer_Approach
http://gentoo-wiki.com/Portage_Overlay_Listing#Gentoo_PHP_Overlay
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92501

Here's what I did in a synopsis:
vi /etc/make.conf:
PORTDIR_OVERLAY=/usr/local/portage
PORTDIR_OVERLAY=${PORTDIR_OVERLAY} /usr/local/portage/net-analyzer/jffnms/

vi /etc/portage/package.keywords
net-analyzer/jffnms ~x86

vi /etc/portage/package.use
net-analyzer/jffnms snmp

vi /etc/portage/package.unmask
   # =net-analyzer/jffnms-0.8.2

mkdir /usr/local/portage/net-analyzer/jffnms
cd /usr/local/portage/net-analyzer/jffnms
copy latest ebuild from buzilla (92501) to file named:
jffnms-0.8.2.ebuild

ebuild jffnms-0.8.2.ebuild digest create Manifest and the files dir
emerge jffnms

now it's installed:
net-analyzer/jffnms
  Latest version available: 0.8.2
  Latest version installed: 0.8.2
Size of downloaded files: 544 kB

Questions:

Did I miss anything? Is anything in the above synopsis incorrect
or not necessary?

Anyone else want to try installing jffnms so as to test it on
Gentoo?

On to configuring this beast!

[gentoo-user] shorewall DNAT problem

2005-07-08 Thread askar k
Hello!

In my rule file I put the line:
DNATnet loc:192.168.0.2 tcp http

When I restarted shorewall it didn't complain, and when it was
restarting there was even a line:
Rule DNAT net loc:192.168.0.2 tcp http added.

But when I try to access the web server, which is actually installed
on 192.168.0.2, it gives me a error The connection was refused when
attempting to contact mydomain.com.

I can put some more info on configs of shorewall if it helps anyhow.

Please, give me some advice.

[gentoo-user] eix, can I trust it at all?

2006-01-06 Thread Petr Kocmid
Hi all,

Please somebody explain to me the following event:

# echo net-p2p/ktorrent ~x86 /etc/portage/package.keywords
# eix ktorrent
* net-p2p/ktorrent
 Available versions:  1.0 1.1_rc1 1.1 (all green==available for install)
 Installed: none
 Homepage:http://ktorrent.pwsp.net/
Description: A BitTorrent program for KDE.

Found 1 matches
# emerge -pv ktorrent

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N] net-p2p/ktorrent-1.2_rc1 +arts -debug +xinerama 1,411 kB

The question is, why eix knows nothing about version the emerge would actually
build? Is this bug for eix or I missed something? My portage was synced just
before that.

Yes... this is typical of the later versions of baselayout. You have to enter

i do not think so. if it is the router has the problem, all people

There is a tendency in BitTorrent to fill up the NAT tables of routers with

[gentoo-user] can't make rt2570 module

I found a bug report for this but that involved a problem with the kernel

[gentoo-user] udev upgrade renames eth-interfaces

2013-03-16 Thread Dan Johansson
Hello,

Today I upgraded udev on one of my boxes (after hesitating a long time).
Even if I have /etc/udev/rules.d/80-net-name-slot.rules and my old
70-persistent-net.rules in place, my interfaces gets renamed (eth0 gets swapped
with eth1) which then messes up my whole configuration (routing tables and
firewall rules).
Any suggestion how to keep my old names and order?

[gentoo-user] Installing i2p

2013-11-10 Thread Pavel Volkov
I'm trying to install net-p2p/i2p from powerman overlay.

It's said on the i2p website that i2p supports IcedTea7:
http://www.i2p2.de/download

But net-p2p/i2p::powerman depends on dev-java/jrobin which is restricted to
Java 1.6:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402485

The result is that emerge i2p pulls both icedtea-bin 1.7 and 1.6 and I have
to mask 1.7.

How do other distros manage to use i2p with Java 1.7 then?

You can ping your printer, so I'd want to know what network traffic
is going/coming from cups/hplip, if any. (I really like ngrep because
it's absolutely trivial to use, so that's the tool I would use.)

I saw this simple test on the hplip debugging website:

Determine the IP address of your printer by printing out the network
configuration page (or if you know it or can determine it in another way)

 Run:

 $ hp-makeuri ip-address

 For example:

 $ hp-makeuri 192.168.1.1

This will result in a device URI printed to the console. For example:

 hp:/net/Officejet_9100_series?ip=192.168.1.1

 Copy this device URI
 Open the CUPS UI:

 http://localhost:631

(or YasT, etc) and install the printer by pasting the generated URI.

I noticed that your hp:/etc URI looks reasonable, but I'd try using
the ip address directly as an experiment. It's very quick even if
 it's useless :)

OK lets try (on oldlap, where I tried yesterday and previously today)

1. Remove all printers (via cups)

2. hp-makeuri 192.168.1.50

CUPS URI: hp:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=192.168.1.50
SANE URI: hpaio:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=192.168.1.50
HP Fax URI: hpfax:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=192.168.1.50

3. Install (via cups) hp:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=192.168.1.50
Prints fine.

4. xsane hpaio:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=192.168.1.50
WORKS !!

5. xsane no arguments
WORKS !!

Let's try ajglap now (main laptop)

1. Remove all printers (via cups).

2. hp-makeuri 192.168.1.50

CUPS URI: hp:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=192.168.1.50
SANE URI: hpaio:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=192.168.1.50
HP Fax URI: hpfax:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=192.168.1.50

3. Install (via cups) hp:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=192.168.1.50
Prints fine.

4. xsane hpaio:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=192.168.1.50
Works

5. xsane no arguments
Works

Walt and michael, thanks so much.

Walt, At least for me hp-setup is now replaced by hp-makeuri/cups as
the favorite way to reinstall printers after an hplip or cups emerge.

Again thank you. I can remember the last time I could print on both
printers from all three system and could run xsane on all three as well.

Aha! See there's a problem with your /etc/portage/package.keywords.

  localhost ~ # cat /etc/portage/package.keywords
  net-im/pidgin-2.0.2 ~x86

Oh, that first part is an invalid atom. The proper systax for atoms is in
the ebuild manpage, IIRC. In any case, your problem is that you've
specified a version, without a comparator.

You probably want '~net-im/pidgin-2.0.2' instead of
just 'net-im/pidgin-2.0.2'. The tilde indicates that version, or any
ebuild revisions (e.g. -r1) or the same version. You could use '='
instead of tilde, if you really don't want any other ebuild revisions.

 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=~x86  emerge pidgin

Um, no. Not unless the OP wants ~x86 dependencies to be brought in, and
all that downgraded to x86 when they do their next emerge world.

Yes, I have a kernel with TCP/IP activated.
NET NFS_FS=y IP_PNP all meet.

[gentoo-user] mozplugger is masked

2006-03-22 Thread hawat . thufir

It's masked:

localhost ~ # emerge mozplugger
Calculating dependencies
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy mozplugger have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your
request:

- net-www/mozplugger-1.6.2 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- net-www/mozplugger-1.7.3 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- net-www/mozplugger-1.7.1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- net-www/mozplugger-1.5.2 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page
or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

localhost ~ # date
Wed Mar 22 14:36:00 GMT 2006
localhost ~ #

but, when I went to http://packages.gentoo.org/ebuilds/?mozplugger-1.5.2
I notice just one bug relating to installing mozplugger.

Do other gentoo users unmask generally, go without, or substitute? I
don't think there's a substitute, but...

The wiki's down at the moment :(

Do you need it with tcl/tk support? If not, add net-misc/suite3270
-tcltk to /etc/portage/package.use and build it without.

And it is only keyword masked, so unmasking should be a pretty simple
and safe operation. Just add one of the following to
/etc/portage/package.keywords:

=net-misc/suite3270-3.3.4_p6 ~x86
=net-misc/suite3270-3.3.2_p1 ~x86
net-misc/suite3270 ~x86

Looking at the dependancy list in the 3.3.2 and 3.3.4 ebuilds, you
should not need ~x86 for anything else.

Stupid question perhaps.. but does it matter in which files the rules go? I

But what confuses me about that linked page is that from what I've heard
from others here, option 1 - which is the option I think I'd prefer -
requires more than just symlinking 80-net-name-slot.rules to
/dev/null...? Apparently you should also create your own
70-my-net-names.rules - but I've heard many people claim they used ethX
names instead of netX names, so... again... should I just rename my file
to 70-my-net-names.rules and leave the contents alone?

Still confused/concerned about the differences in my current rules
(items in mine that aren't in the examples)...

Network Manager seems to be the integration platform of choice.  Does
anyone know if there are rumblings about integrating any of this with
wicd?  Has anyone tried any of this stuff?

Whoops, the second to last link should be:

[gentoo-user] Re: GPRS/3G packages galore

2009-08-24 Thread Grant
Wow, there have just been a whole slew of GPRS/3G packages added to
portage.  This is really great to see, and I can be a great
contributor as far as providing network info.

Just read on IRC that integration is planned for wicd-2.0 and they
will likely share the same carrier database as above.

Re: [gentoo-user] world file cheating

I thought I had found a way to duplicate the installed software,

I don't know if it's generally possible, because there are so many
