[gentoo-user] KDE 4.1 with connection problems

2008-08-16 Thread Rev. Ferris

Hi,
I notice a net problem with the new KDE version.
If I use konqueror as browser I failed each first connection trial on
all website. After timeout, I must just press reload and it cnnect with
the website.
With Kmail if I use manual email download (or the automatic download on
startup) it failed and, again, the second trial works.
How can I improve it?
I must use yet firefox as standard browser and wait every time to second
check (and close all error pop-ups)...
Thank you,
Luigi

I update last month to new profile (using eselect) and since that time I

I configured my gentoo-box using unicode wiki on gentoo website, but it
seems that new profile disactives my unicode setting and by update I
lost unicode support.
How can I solve it?

A similar thing happened to me too. You just have to follow again the

Please tell us more, what is the content of

KDE 4.1 ebuilds are not yet in the official portage tree. You can get

You mail at least gives me some hope that the fix is in...

java_config_2 was installed with python 2.5, which itself was
installed yesterday with an emerge -auDv world

 I found java_config_2 in
 /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/java_config_2/

Having noticed the new python version, I ran python-updater. Since
 then, it's fine.

[gentoo-user] Wireless problem

2008-05-29 Thread Rev. Ferris

Hi!
I have a wireless problem.
I bought yesterday a Zyxel G202 USB stick and I attack it of my
workstation.
This hardware is supported from zd1211rw driver.
I set all parameters of my network and I started it.
It works fine, pretty signal quality, good speed, etc.
After some quiet time, from my network monitor I noticed a lost in the
connection.
Now, if I restart the connection it works fine, but after a X time it
disconnects again.
I don't find any message on dmesg or /var/log/messages and for that
reason I have no idea how I can solve the problem. I think it is
something correlates with energy management.
Any idea?
Thanks,
Luigi
