[gentoo-user] gentoo on xeon with 64 bits extention
Hi folks, Anyone knows if there is gentoo for xeon with 64 bits extention? 'cause I've seen that there are only amd_64,ppc64 and sparc64 gentoo versions. Am I wrong? Thank you. -- Catalin .. I already know your next question will be about cflags ;-) ... see this link: http://gentoo-wiki.com/Safe_Cflags Ciao Francesco Thank you and Mike for your answers, cause the amd64 arch name was not leading me to thinking that is generic for x86_64 at all :) well, the next Q might be actually something related to a driver for the raid controller on that machine. It's a SATA SCSI controller (it is an IBM if I remeber) and there is a CD with the driver (for RHEL or Suse Enterpr. of course :)), and I will wonder myself how I will detect and use the raid arrays. well I hope I'll figure it out. -- Catalin -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
Re: [gentoo-user] Can't get Vi
Yes, issue an emerge sync first. The explanation is that you still have te ebuild-6.5.068 but the package itself don't exist anymore. Shawn Singh wrote: thank's all ... Here is a snippet from the last bit of the run of emerge: 09:55:37 ERROR 404: Not Found. !!! Couldn't download vim-6.3.068-netrw.tar.bz2. Aborting. try an emerge --sync. I've been getting the same results for the past week and a half. Any suggestions? Thanks, Shawn Singh From time to time, I find packages that I can't d'load from the site named in the ebuild. What I do in that case, is to google the package and dload it from another source. I then move it to /usr/portage/distfiles. Then a normal emerge PACKAGE_NAME will run. here is a source for it: http://cvsup.de.openbsd.org/mirrors/gentoo/distfiles/vim-6.3.068-netrw.tar.bz2 -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list -- Shawn Singh -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
