local machines. However, my primary server with all the hard drive
space (the only one that's any good) is running OpenBSD.

I don't use OpenBSD but I can assure you that there is nothing special
about portage's usage of rsync. Every howto about rsync servers and BSD
should work. Just look into the script for settings like recursion and
compression.

Great frontend for dvd+rw-tools and cdrecord. Runs like a charm on
my OpenBSD 4.1 i386 box. Haven't tried it on gentoo yet, but it's nice

like a charm on my AMD64 Gentoo 2007.0 . I've been using

Try Devil-Linux. I'm slaping it on a old Dell server with shot SCSI drives
as a router/firewall.
Very minimal but functional, no X.

Recently after rebooting from Windows to Gentoo, I noticed I had no internet
access.
My router, which is set to give my mac address the same IP (192.168.0.104),
seems to
have decided NOT to do this anymore. Nothing has changed in my settings on
either my computer
or the router. I get the

I've recently installed GDM, XDM, and Fluxbox on a new Gentoo machine. When I boot to XDM, and login as root, everything is fine and dandy, with a nice Fluxbox desktop. When I login as my user, it just hangs on a black screen (which xdm used to do when it was pointing to a wm that didn't exist).
On a more serious note:

live CD (I thought I had already configured the network anyway, in
