[gentoo-user] Error compiling Kde-Graphics 3.4.3-r3

2006-01-16 Thread Thiago Lüttig
Hi, i´m trying to compile the kde-graphics-3.4.3-r3 but it can´t find the libungif package. When I emerge that, the portage says it´s deprecated, and recently, simply doesn´t find it. How to fix this ??

This is the error:

We need some more output before this.

Some libtool archive is looking for /usr/lib/libungif.la, which no
longer exists on your system. You need to rebuild the package that is
looking for libungif, or merge libungif. So, please give us about 10
extra lines above this error.

First check whether you have gif use flag enabled for imlib2 or not by using
this command
# emerge -pv imlib2

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild R ] media-libs/imlib2-1.2.1.009 +X +bzip2 -doc +gif +jpeg +mmx
+mp3 +nls +png +tiff +zlib 0 kB

As you can see, I have gif flag enabled. Try re-emerging imlib2 by using
command
# emerge imlib2

This bug #83238 http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83238

Basic instructions to fix:

If libungif is still installed,
emerge --unmerge libungif

emerge --oneshot giflib (use oneshot so it doesn't get added to world)

Install gentoolkit-0.2.1 (or higher)

echo =app-portage/gentoolkit-0.2.1 ~x86  /etc/portage/package.keywords

emerge gentoolkit --pretend (make sure that gentoolkit-0.2.1 or higher will be
installed)
emerge gentoolkit

revdep-rebuild --ignore --pretend

If you agree with the listing

revdep-rebuild

After this your system should be consistent.

Regards,
Paul

Yes, libungif was replaced by giflib recently. Everyone who's advised to
re-emerge imlib was on the right track, because imlib2 is what's
compiled against libungif, but you don't have giflib at all, so the
dependencies are not being recompiled, so of course it's not helping.

You might want to have a look at

http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83238

In any case, what you most likely want to do is

1) unmerge libungif

2) emerge --oneshot giflib

3) emerge --oneshot imlib2

4) re-emerge kdegraphics

Or follow the various instructions in the bug .

Holly

emerge --oneshot giflib
emerge --oneshot imlib2
emerge --oneshot kdegraphics
or
emerge kdegraphics
if you want it in your world file.

emerge --update world after imlib2 won't do it, you have to explicitly
emerge kdegraphics.
