[gentoo-user] gthumb --import photos does not import .nef files / gthumb only displays .nef embedded thumbs

2010-06-20 Thread Dru Kargin
I am having a lot of trouble with gthumb and the .nef raw image files
from my wife's Nikon DSLR. In spite of making sure that
seemingly-appropriate mime entries for .nef are in the system (thunar
recognizes .nef as Nikon raw image, and thumbnails it), gthumb
--import-photos reports no images found, gphoto2 refers to the .NEF
files as application/x-unknown, and gthumb will only display the
low-res embedded thumbnails of the .nef files.

In contrast, on my wife's Ubuntu machine, gthumb will import and display
the .nef files just fine.

What am I doing wrong here?

That's it!
I tried to find out what to do, but in Google
I didn't find anything which helps.

I put xtest.h in /usr/include/X11/extensions
but it didn't work.

Perhaps something else?
I tried lafilefixer --justfixit without success.
When we read revdep-rebuild answer we can see
that the broken libs require -lesd
I can't find neither what it means nor what to do...

[gentoo-user] gthumb scroll wheel cycles through images

Shouldn't the scroll wheel in gthumb cycle through, browse, the images
rather than change the magnification on a specific image? Can this be
changed? I found Ubuntu references on this, nothing gentoo specific.

[gentoo-user] gthumb - can't save images

2006-04-30 Thread Alexander Skwar

Hello!

For quite some time now (since at least January 2006; since
at least version 2.6.8), I cannot save JPEG images with
gthumb (running 2.6.9 from my own overlay, but also with
2.6.8-r2) anymore. When I try to save a JPEG image, a 0 byte
file gets created and in the terminal window I get the following
output:

(gthumb:18670): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Bad option name 'smooth' passed to JPEG
saver

(gthumb:18670): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_savev: assertion `error ==
NULL || *error != NULL' failed

** (gthumb:18670): CRITICAL **: _gtk_error_dialog_from_gerror_run: assertion
`*gerror != NULL' failed

As I'm running ~x86, I suppose that media-libs/gdk-pixbuf-0.22.0-r5
is too new for the stable gthumb branch?

Actually, I now installed gthumb 2.7.5.1, which is the unstable
release of gthumb. But I'd like to go back to the stable
branch.

Has anyone else noticed problems with gthumb 2.6.x?

I posted bugs reg. this. See:

https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130288
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340101

Bye,

[gentoo-user] gthumb 2.6.8 doesn't save images anymore

2006-01-22 Thread Alexander Skwar
Hello!

Since a few days, gthumb doesn't save changed images anymore. When I
try to save an image as jpeg, it creates a 0 byte file. When I try to
save a PNG, it does the same and, as a bonus :), it crashes.

A while back, this used to work.

I also tried to recompile gthumb - didn't help... :(

Which additional information should I provide?

I'm also interested to find out, if somebody else has seen this
malfunction. If so, I'd post a bug.

Thanks a lot,

Alexander Skwar

Sounds like some of the dependancies of gthumb may have changed on your
system.

You can figure out the dependencies with ldd
eg; #ldd /sbin/udev
linux-gate.so.1 =  (0xe000)
libc.so.6 = /lib/libc.so.6 (0xb7dd)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7f07000)

Are any of the files you get related to packages you updated/downgrades
recently? are they made available in /etc/portage/package.* which might
indicate using unstable builds?

Just some ideas. not to sure otherwise

[gentoo-user] gthumb gdk_pixbuf_get_width: assertion `pixbuf != NULL'

2005-09-14 Thread Arkady Grudzinsky
Hi,

I have emerged gthumb-2.6.5 on my machine. I have not noticed any
errors during installation. However, when I start gthumb from the
terminal, I get the following messages:

(gthumb:24708): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_width: assertion `pixbuf != NULL' failed

(gthumb:24708): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_height: assertion `pixbuf != NULL' failed

(gthumb:24708): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

The application starts, but it always says No image in the thumbnails
window. As I switch to a directory containing some jpegs from my
camera, I get a bunch of additional messages:

** (gthumb:24708): CRITICAL **: gth_image_list_append_with_data: assertion `pixbuf != NULL' failed

I didn't count, but I assume that the number of these messages is equal
to the number of images in the directory. And the thumbnail
window still says No image.

Any suggestions? It appears to me that gthumb is unhappy about
some dependency. All dependencies seem to be there. One
more detail. The file browser on the left lacks folder
icons. I have read some reports of similar problems with other
Gnome applications using GTK and Gnome themes, but nothing that would
suggest a solution for my problem.

On my laptop, I have compiled Linux from scratch manually and gthumb
has the same problem there. I use XFCE as window
manager. I have not explicitly installed Gnome. Is that a
problem? Does gthumb have some dependency which is not explicitly
stated?

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Arkady.
