Okay. My gnome is broken and has been for some time and I can't seem to fix it or find any solutions on the web. I was hoping eventually some emerge would fix it magically for me. When I start it (even as root), it gets to the third icon (like a desktop looking one), then gives me some Nautilus

Hi, My computer was accidently shut down uncleanly while running Gnome. When it was restarted, the icons on the desktop won't show, when you right click on the desktop no options are presented, and the background image doesn't show. Any ideas as to why? Bill
