i downloaded the 2006.0 livecd today and tried to boot from it. But
even with the parameters gentoo-nofb nodetect noapic nohotplug
acpi=off nodma nousb noapic nolapic nox debug the installer hung up
with the lines:
io scheduler noop registered
io scheduler deadline registered
