[gentoo-user] how to kernel update when executing emerge -u world?

Every time when I run emerge -u world, the kernel will be updated if it have some update. I delete the kernel line in /var/lib/portage/world, but it doesn't help. The most recent output of emerge -au world is as following: [ebuild U ] sys-process/procps-3.2.6 [3.2.5-r1] [ebuild U ]
