Eclass may become deprecated after last update of a package, in such case devs may not see such warning because they have no need to rebuild the package. It still seems an awfully noisy and inefficient way of doing things. Can't the developer deprecating the eclass parse the tree for ebuilds still using it an d ping the developers, this sort of QA stuff should be automated , not rely on users seeing the messages and reporting rather than ignoring them. Anyway, the eclass has only been deprecated, the ebuild devs should be aware of this long before it is obsoleted. -- Neil Bothwick "There are no stupid questions, just too many inquisitive idiots." pgpgOxa7r6HQ3.pgp Description: OpenPGP digital signature

If emerge outputs something strange for ebuild, this should be reported as bug, as well as any other weird package behaviour. Of course, no one _must_ report this, this is a matter of a good will. This is an outdated readme? It's a QA message stating thst the ebuild should be updated to use a newer eclass. The readme.gentoo eclass is used to generate messages specific to installing the package on Gentoo. It's nothing to worry about, deprecated only mean is will be broken at some time in the future, it still works for now. [gentoo-user] nvidia-drivers using deprecated...
hi, ths morning brings an update to the nividia-drivers, whch where successfully emerged and installed. Right at the end of this process this was prointed on the console: * Removing x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-361.18-r2 from moduledb. Switching to nvidia OpenGL interface... done >>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache... >>> Original instance of package unmerged safely. * Updating module dependencies for 4.4.0-RT ... [ ok ] * Adding module to moduledb. Switching to nvidia OpenGL interface... done Switching to nvidia OpenCL interface... done * x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers is using the deprecated readme.gentoo.eclass. <<>> * Please use readme.gentoo-r1 instead. >>> x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-361.18-r4 merged. >>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache... >>> Auto-cleaning packages... >>> No outdated packages were found on your system. What does the marked line implies? This is an outdated readme? Thank you very much in advance for any translation! :) Best regards, Meino
