The best thing is Kitten Milk Replacer. You can get it at the pet store. I think cow's milk is not nearly rich enough. I have also used human baby formula made double strong (in an emergency, you use what you have), but I only did that for one day until I could get to the pet store.

Let me say that Laura stated my position almost exactly. I was trying to figure out how to say it. I am somewhat disturbed by all the talk of voting, especially when it got complicated by the suggestion that people would remove cookies just to vote multiple times. Get real! we are talking

My gerbils love food boxes. I give them food boxes that are not plastic coated, like breakfast cereal boxes and the like. I don't give them boxes from frozen foods, because they are plastic coated. I can't answer your allergy question, but as far as building a house, I think pine would be ok.

They can hide everywhere and get through a crack less than an inch, I swear! (well, maybe more than that, but not much). I caught a particularly tricky one once using the gerbil's natural curiosity and hunger. Igot a deep bucket (like a 5-gallon pail) and put some litter in the bottom for

Here is a hint I got from my vet to hold a gerbil for medication--get a child sized tube sock. cut a very small hole in the toe. A gerbil is so curious, she will run up the sock if you show her the open end and poke her head out the hole. If the hole is small enough, she won't be able to get

My house gets down to about 58 at night, sometimes even 55. Hasn't hurt my gerbils at all. they usually make their nest deep in the litter in the winter. In the summer it gets up to 100 sometimes. They nest on the surface of the litter then! Kathleen

I have had lots of hamsters, and they are much happier alone. Just get one. And I have found them to be lessloving than gerbils, and way more nocturnal, and therefore less fun to watch. Maybe your son will reconsider and get another gerbil. Kathleen - Original Message - From: Jean M
