I don't really see a problem with having a small image in a big
maximized tab-based window.
screen estate is often precious. i often want to see more images at the same
time
Also please keep the discussion on the list.
sorry, too fast clicking in an oversimplified GUI interface :)
? These images have nothing in common except they have
been opened in the same editor session. Do not mix them up.

The roadmap for GIMP was discussed shortly. We would like to get GIMP
2.4 out soon. The plan is to finish what has been started in the
development branch. This should be doable over the summer.
When is expected string freeze for translators to happen?

Because I tried it and I made the experience that it pressing a key
with the second hand disturbs the workflow less than to switch mouse
buttons.

Do a lot of gimp users not have a middle mouse button? Maybe tablet
users who don't want to put down the stylus and switch to a mouse?
i do not have - a tablet and a notebook

The genius behind the choice of space key is that it can
easily be hit (on all keyboard layouts!) without looking
away from the screen...
exactly, and this is(imho, of course) most useful for panning

it is a good idea. the descibed behaviour is really handy when editing
zoomed in image. however i use the current space function too. would
it be possible to use a different key for the temporary move tool?

but a good vector only tool is very important, with vector-to-web

i still cannot understand why you call fireworks a vector only tool.
last tim e i used it was primarily a raster editor. and if i look at

Q: Why the split from Sodipodi?
Mainly just differences in objectives and in development approach.
Inkscape's objective is to be a fully compliant SVG editor, whereas
for Sodipodi SVG is more a means-to-an-end of being a powerful vector
illustration tool.
only case where you'd need 300dpi - so I don't understand why this

AFAIK, the CMYK and support for other colour spaces is under
development. The keyword is GEGL library. You are right, this is
really something current versions lack a lot. But working with

is there any hope for tablet (with pressure sensitivity at least)
support in win port of the gimp?
after the release of 2.0 it is the last thing which keep me (and many
others i know) from replacing photoshop by the gimp
and i would love to replace it
It's mostly a question of inspiration and resources (access to a
tablet and time). I do have a tablet (have had for a long time), but
to tell the truth I rarely use it. I might have the inspiration. But,
very seldom do I have time for one of those several hours long
concentrated intense hacking
it would be very nice to see history brush tool in the gimp.

Does it really? Aren't tablets (at least the more expensive, pressure-
and tilt-sensitive ones) mainly used by graphics arts professionals?
These guys typically live and breathe in Photoshop, don't they? I
doubt they would switch en masse to GIMP, even if their tablets did
work perfectly in GIMP
six months after 2.0.0 hits the streets.
