Hello Debi,

I have made some tutorials.
They are shorted by difficulty levels, then, you can start from low to
advanced:

http://www.jesusda.com/docs/tutoriales-gimp/
http://www.jesusda.com/docs/cursointrogimp/index.html

You can find some e-books here too:

http://www.jesusda.com/docs/ebooks/

And some additional material here:

http://www.jesusda.com/docs/

I hope this helps you.

Can you point me in the direction of a list of places that actually use
GIMP for photo retouching and graphics creation. We are trying to give our
kids real-world skills and we need to be able to point to real places that
are using GIMP for photo retouching and graphics resolution. If I am going
to teach using this software I need as much ammunition as possible to make
this seem exciting and something that the kids will WANT to learn to use.

Thank you.

[Gimp-developer] About Gimp Icons license

2010-07-13 Thread jEsuSdA 8)
Hello!

Yesterday I suggest Pinta developers (http://pinta-project.com/) improve this
nice software using the Art Libre Set
icons.

There are a problem: Art Libre Set is under GPL License and it appears to be
incompatible with MIT License (The one
Pinta uses).

I asked to the Tango mailing list and someone tell me the Gimp Icons are under
LGPL, then they could be used.

But I can not find any reference where appears that Gimp icons are LGPL.

¿Are the Gimp tools and menu Icons under the GPL or LGPL license?
¿Could be the icons used for Pinta?

The Art Libre set allow graphical applications to be easy to use for people
(same tools work similar way) and I think
Pinta could be improved using it.

I vote for that!

I'm a Gimp teacher. I have teach very people and Resynthesizer makes all the
people goes crazy!

You could explain people lot of nice tools Gimp includes... people says: ok,
this is very nice, but when I use
Photoshop...
But when you show people Resynthesizer plugin working, people says: Wow!!! I
Want it! How I can install Gimp on my
computer now?

Then, when you explain people, that Resynthesizer must be downloaded, copied,
configured... installed as a plugin...
bla, bla, bla... people says: Ah! well! if someday I need the Gimp, I will ask
you for installing it...
then, they gone...

I know Gimp is great, and complex, there are no much resources and to add more
complexity is a no good idea, but Gimp is
a great application, and lot of people will love it if they discover it, if
they can learn it.

But if we want people discover Gimp, and use Gimp, Gimp must have some WOW
features. Features that cause a great
impact on people Resynthesizer is a WOW feature who impacts on people and
leave in the people's mind the idea
that Gimp is a great and valuable software.

When more people will discover Gimp, more people will install it, and more
people like me will appear to teach this
people how to use Gimp... and I think more resources will come to Gimp...

I know it is a difficult decission to include this and others features, but I
think you must consider the impact of
some features can cause on users. I think more users is good for every
software, and all actions that gain more users
for the Gimp is a good action. For this reason I publish my Gimp Howtos and
tutorials, I teach people to use Gimp
(workshops and courses) and I vote for include some relevant features like
Resynthesizer on Gimp.

I hope you consider these things before make a decission. ;)

Great work and thanks for bring us this excelent software. ;)

This discussion was about a PDF export plugin at the beginning.
I was trying to make evident that a PDF export plugin is probably
useless without CMYK/SPOT/VECTOR LAYERS, and improving and integrating
the Separate+ Plugin instead of focusing on a PDF exporter would make
 sense and a big difference.

I totally agree with Gez.
a PDF export plugin now as if you uses convert image.jpg image.pdf from
imagemagick

Its more usable to improve separate first and later, when CMYK/SPOT/VECTOR
LAYERS where integrated on Gimp, make a
complete pdf export plugin.

[Gimp-developer] GPS - Gimp Paint Studio

Hello!

Ramón Miranda has published his nice Gimp Paint Studio for Gimp.

GPS is a set of brushes, presets and color palettes specifically made for
digital painters.

You could see information and download the GPS and the GPS Manual from:
http://www.jesusda.com/blog/index.php?id=314

I recomend you to see the Ramón Miranda artwork to view the GPS power:

Finally I want to ask a question: I is possible to add GPS to Official Gimp
Release?

Re: [Gimp-developer] change layout of mode menus?

One of the minor annoyances of using Gimp is that the Layer Mode
menu (and paint mode menu, etc) is unpleasantly long -- for me, it
nearly extends from the top to the bottom of the screen. It
would actually be very easy to change the code so that these menus
are laid out in two columns, and in my opinion they look nicer that
way. I am attaching a screenshot showing how it looks. (Hopefully
 the attachment will come through.)

I should say that the disadvantage is that it's hard to maintain the
separators that divided the modes into categories -- it would be
possible, but coding it would be a significant pita. It seems to me
that the separators are not that important, because the categories
are pretty artificial in the first place, and were really imposed mostly
to give the very long list some structure, as far as I can see. But this
is something that you should consider.

I think the separators are important.
And the categories are full of sense.

About create two columns, I think it may be a nice idea, but I have no
problem with only one column.

May be could be possible make two columns but mantaining separators.

Anyway, I would like to make this change, and I wonder if there are
 objections.

inkscape, scribus... So maybe you can help here if you want ?

Thanks by the link, is very very interesting! ;)

But my idea is unificate all palettes and i can't find any similar
project related on webpage you indicates me.

Scribus color palette,
Pantano - a Pantone Coated color palette copy (a propos of this: ¿Can I
have legal problems about this ?)
and some others.

As far as I know we have included them in krita, the problem might come
from the use of the name which is a trademark.

Krita comes whit PANTONE COATED APROX. palette by Tigert.
This palette is great, but almost not complete and colors arte not
exactly Pantone.
For example:

P122 is : #fcd450 but Pantone Coated aprox. indiques #f7cd2a

If issues with Pantone colors were only related by the use of PANTONE
as name, then, Pantano maybe legal and Pantone coated aprox. not. isn't
it?

Thanks and excuse my poor english.

no problem, mine isn't much better ;)

it means create a palette independent package.
By the moment, i've created a simple script to create a folder

palettes directory.

[Gimp-developer] Color Paletes for Gimp, Inkscape and Krita (also Scribus compatible one)

Hello:

I only wanted notify you that i've made a collection of color palettes i
think can be interesting to your project.

I've used some palettes included in Gimp, Krita and Inkscape and i've
added some interesting others:

Scribus color palette,
Pantano - a Pantone Coated color palette copy (a propos of this: ¿Can I
have legal problems about this ?)

and some others.

I've have made a simple script to install and configure all of these
palettes simultaneously in Krita, Gimp and Inkscape, and I consider that
it will be interesting create a separated package with palettes that all
design applications could use.
By the moment, each application uses ours palettes and this is not so
god to work between them.

I hope you find this idea and project interesting.

Thanks and excuse my poor english.

Hola

Sólo quería nofificaros que he creado una colección de paletas de color
que creo que pueden resultar interesantes para vuestros proyectos.

He usado algunas paletas incluidas en Gimp, Krita e Inkscape y he
