Have you reviewed your "Folders" configuration in GIMP preferences? Your
files may not be in the folders GIMP is expecting. You could also
customize where GIMP looks for those additional customizations in the
folders section.

In the lower right hand corner of the front page Partha does a good job
explaining how he builds GIMP. I haven't tried building it myself but if I
had the desire to have 32-bit GIMP I think it would be worth a shot.
