I'm not sure what the problem might be. I've just tried here on Win10 and
GIMP 2.10 and it's working. Perhaps try on the G'MIC support forums?

I’m not very proficient with gimp. Am I missing anything on that tutorial?
My understanding is that as long as the input layer is correct, the plugin
should locate in the photo the area covered in red, and do it’s thing.
